Content Depot uses some very standard tools and practices. Mediaplex selected Microsoft's .Net 2.0 platform as the foundation for Content Depot for the following reasons:

- Quick XML file integration and creation
- Rapid Development of media driven and collaboration features using Sharepoint Services and web parts

- Apple - Content Depot works with Quicktime, and Mediaplex is an authorized developer in the Apple network
- Adobe - Mediaplex is an authorized Adobe developer, thereby providing Content Depot with access to various tools to extend system functionality
- Other - Content Depot has several different tools embedded in the system that allow for quick integration of various file types
